Australia is addicted to sports and fitness, the main reason why it has one of the healtiest and most beautiful population in the World. Not to mention the Australians' fondness for its fabulous beaches. If Brazil has Copacabana, Australia has Bondi Beach.
It has a thriving fashion and modeling industry, with its very own set of world-renowned fashion Designers- Christopher Chronos, Collette Dinnigan, Joe Saba to name a few. Of course, Australia has its own Fashion Week. They also have fabulous, cutting edge fashion magazines!
What makes it different from other places? Some of the more established agencies offer both modeling & acting representation, a peculiarity not found in US-based modeling management firms. Work is not concentrated on a single City. Sydney, Melbourne and Perth all offer different modeling opportunities.
What sort of work would a model come to expect in Australia? High-paying catalogue jobs are very much a regular event to Australians. Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese production companies choose Australia to shoot for their catalogues.
