Scene Models is the result of the joining of forces between Vikki Graham, well-known Australian model and Darren Tieste, fashion photographer and acting agent and the team of top talent managers Anthony Harden and Kent Bangay, who were two of the most influential agents from Perth and Melbourne, respectively.

It is an impressive joining of experience, contacts and appeal that makes Scene one of Australia's most important agencies.

Boasting of a diverse range of model looks, the agency has been making impressive advancements in the country's swimsuit industry, as well as, leading the way in the catalogue and editorial markets, locally and internationally.

They also represent top models who have walked the runways of the world's fashion capitals. SceneModels also represent international talents, including top Canadian male model Matt Walsh, among others.

"Scene Men is now regarded as one of the strongest men's boards in Australia. We constantly discover new talent, build their portfolios and then place them overseas." stated Vikki Graham, the National Director of the agency.

Modelwatch presents our exclusive interview with the agency's National Director, Vikki Graham.

MW: In your personal perspective, what is SCENE MODELS as a modeling agency? What makes it unique compared to other agencies in Australia and in the world?

Scene Models: Scene Models is a boutique agency with offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

Scene started in 1998. Vikki Graham, who is a well-known Australian model and Darren Tieste, fashion photographer and acting agent combined forces and started an agency that focuses on individual management for their models. Both brought years of experience to the union.

Vikki has been an international model and scout for Louisa Models in Germany and more recently Australia's leading fashion choreographer. Darren has worked previously as a model and acting agent before moving into Fashion photography. His work appears constantly in Ministry, DNA, Cream and has shot the cover of Men's Style with Sarah Wynter.

MW: Give us an idea of how the agency started. Who were the people instrumental in making it a prominent modeling agency that it is now?

Vikki Graham: Scene's Mens Division started with the discovery of John Groom, an English back-packer visiting Sydney in 1998. Within two weeks he had a cover of a top magazine and a trip to Malaysia with Harpers Bazaar. From just a couple of polaroids he was sent a ticket to Miami to shoot with Bruce Weber for Abercrombie and Fitch.

Scene Men is now regarded as one of the strongest men's boards in Australia. We constantly discover new talent, build their portfolios and then place them overseas.

MW: As a modeling agency, how would you describe your relationships and dealings with the Fashion industry in such capitals as Milan, Paris, London and New York? Of these fashion capitals, which are the most challenging, the most exciting, the most difficult, and the most innovative?

Vikki: We have a great relationship with agencies in most fashion capitals. We don't work exclusively with any particular agencies but rather work out which one best suits the individual model. In return alot of overseas agencies send us their new faces so we can build them up and send them back to Europe and New York with strong books.

MW: It would be exciting for the viewers if you could relate some of your male models? success stories, what would be some of these fascinating stories? Most especially about Matt Gordon!

Vikki: Mat Gordon is Canadian but has been based in Sydney for over a year. He came to us with a handful of polaroids and has gone on to be one of the most successful boys in Australia. He has done campaigns for Oxford Menswear, CEO, Lane Crawford, editorial for FHM, Club 21, the cover of DNA and recently was treated like a celeb in Japan where he went to shoot a Coca Cola Commercial. Mat is one of the nicest guys you wil ever meet, clients love him, other models love him and as an agent I can say he is a pleasure to represent.
